World Egg Day 2026 Celebrated at Habiganj Agricultural University

 

Habiganj Agricultural University (HAU) celebrated World Egg Day 2026 on Friday, 9 October, with a series of programmes under the theme “Eggs: Nutrition, Strength and Protection Against Disease.”

The celebration began with a colourful rally from the university’s temporary campus at 10:00 a.m. This was followed by a discussion meeting and seminar organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, with support from the Department of Livestock Services, the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC), and the World’s Poultry Science Association–Bangladesh Branch. The event marked the 30th anniversary of World Egg Day and drew enthusiastic participation from the university’s teachers, students, officers and employees.

The Vice-Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University, Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain attended as the special guest.

Professor Dr. Md. Elias Hossain of the Department of Poultry Science at Bangladesh Agricultural University presented the keynote paper. He highlighted the nutritional value of eggs, their role in maintaining human health, and their importance as part of a balanced daily diet. Shathi Akter, Chairman of the Department of Animal Production at HAU, chaired the session.

During the discussion, speakers emphasised the vital role of eggs in meeting the body’s requirements for protein and other essential nutrients. They called for greater public awareness of the nutritional benefits of eggs and highlighted their value as an affordable source of nutrition that supports a balanced diet and good health.
