Stakeholder Meeting Held for Reconsideration of Land Selection for HAU

As per the directives of the Ministry of Education, a stakeholder meeting was held to reconsider the land selection for establishing Habiganj Agricultural University. The meeting took place on Wednesday (February 5) at 11 AM at the Habiganj District Shilpakala Academy, presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Md. Faridur Rahman, and moderated by Abdullah Al Masum, Lecturer at Habiganj Agricultural University.

The Vice-Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed, was present as the chief patron of the event. Various dignitaries shared their opinions during the meeting, including Habiganj’s Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman, Public Prosecutor of the District and Sessions Judge Court Md. Abdul Hai, Government Counsel of the District Judge Court Abul Fayez Md. Khairul Islam, Assistant Public Prosecutor Syed Jadil Uddin Ahmed, President of the Habiganj branch of Bangladesh Environmental Movement (BAPA) Professor Ikramul Wadud, veteran journalist Mansur Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, Joint Convener of the Habiganj District Branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party Haji Enamul Haque, Amir of Habiganj District Jamaat-e-Islami Kazi Maulana Mokhleshur Rahman, President of the Business Welfare Association Shamsul Huda, Convener of the Jatiotabadi Sessasebok Dol Syed Mushfiq Ahmed, Secretary of Habiganj District Jamaat-e-Islami Kazi Mohsin Ahmed, Senior Joint Convener of Habiganj District Jubo Dal Aminul Islam Babul, and journalists Fazlur Rahman, Shoaib Chowdhury, Hafizur Rahman Niyon, Pradip Das Sagar, Shakil Chowdhury, Saifuddin Javed, S.M. Khokon, and Secretary of BAPA Habiganj District Branch Tofazzal Sohel, among others.

During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed presented all relevant information regarding seven potential locations for the university using sketch maps and Google Maps. The attendees then provided their opinions on the proposed locations, which were documented for further consideration.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Md. Faridur Rahman stated, "The final selection of land for the permanent campus of Habiganj Agricultural University will be made after considering all stakeholders' opinions and conducting a feasibility study. While prioritizing the views of the people of Habiganj, we will also ensure that the land selection aligns with expert opinions so that the university can be established as an ideal institution."
