ABOUT HABIGANJ AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY
Habiganj Agricultural University (HAU) is a public agricultural university established in Habiganj, Bangladesh, with a commitment to advancing higher education, research, innovation, and service in agriculture, science, technology, and allied disciplines. The University was established under the Habiganj Agricultural University Act, 2020, which came into effect on 17 December 2020. The Act envisions the University as an institution that will expand opportunities for advanced education and research, promote innovation and new technologies, and contribute to the development of agriculture, science, and technology in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Laws Guided by the philosophy “From nature, we learn,” HAU seeks to connect academic knowledge with the natural environment, agricultural systems, and the evolving needs of society. The University places emphasis on quality education, scientific inquiry, practical learning, technological innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, with the broader goal of transforming knowledge into meaningful solutions for agriculture and rural development. Habiganj Agricultural University The University currently encompasses four major academic faculties: the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Fisheries, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, and Faculty of Science and Technology. These faculties provide a multidisciplinary foundation for education and research across agriculture and related scientific fields. The same four faculties were identified for establishment at the initial stage under the University Act. The logo of Habiganj Agricultural University is a thoughtfully designed emblem that combines academic tradition, agriculture, nature, knowledge, and the regional identity of Habiganj. Its overall design reflects the university’s commitment to education, research, sustainability, and service to society, while strongly expressing the motto “From nature, we learn.” The deep green shield represents integrity, institutional authority, protection of knowledge, academic excellence, and heritage, giving the logo a formal identity consistent with academic institutions. The university motto positioned within the shield emphasizes that learning from nature guides its academic and research activities, while the university name arranged around the lower portion clearly establishes institutional identity.
At the centre of the emblem, the graduation cap, open book, and flame of knowledge represent higher education, scholarly achievement, learning, research, intellectual enlightenment, wisdom, innovation, and the transformative power of education. The open book also incorporates representations of agricultural landscapes, land, water, and sustainable food systems, connecting academic knowledge directly with the university’s agricultural mission. The flame emerging from the book further symbolizes curiosity, inspiration, lifelong learning, and the continuous advancement of knowledge.
The prominent tea leaves, resembling the traditional “two leaves and a bud” motif, highlight the agricultural character and regional heritage of Habiganj, where tea is an important and recognizable crop. They represent agricultural roots, growth, vitality, sustainability, innovation, excellence, the abundance of nature, and the nurturing of future generations. The use of different shades of green reinforces harmony with nature and symbolizes stability, maturity, renewal, sustainability, and deep-rooted academic strength. Together, all elements create a unified visual identity representing Habiganj Agricultural University as an institution where nature, agriculture, knowledge, research, innovation, and education come together for sustainable development and the advancement of society.
