MoU Signed Between Habiganj Agricultural University and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Habiganj Agricultural University and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation was signed at a ceremony held at the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation on Sunday (13 September). As a result, special discount facilities have been ensured at hotels, motels, and resorts operated by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation for the university’s teachers, officers and employees, students, researchers, trainees, and participants in institutional field visits and other institutional activities. As part of an initiative to sign similar agreements with universities across the country on a phased basis, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation has signed this MoU with Habiganj Agricultural University as the first university under the initiative.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque, Vice-Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University, and Md. Shamimuzzaman, Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. Also present were Md. Shakir Ahammed, a teacher of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Md. Badrul Amin, Deputy Registrar (In-Charge) of Habiganj Agricultural University, along with directors of various departments and officials of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. Representatives of Bangladesh Television were also present at the event.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation by Mohammad Ehsanul Kabir, General Manager (Commercial), and on behalf of Habiganj Agricultural University by Md. Badrul Amin, Deputy Registrar (In-Charge). The witnesses to the First Party were Mr. Mohammad Mainul Islam, Manager (Commercial), and A. K. M. Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Manager (Commercial), while the witnesses to the Second Party were Md. Shakir Ahammed, Environmental Science Section, Department of Allied Agricultural Sciences, and Md. Sazzad Basunia, Section Officer, Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
According to the MoU, authorized students, teachers, officers and employees, researchers, trainees, delegations, consultants, guests, and participants in various meetings, seminars, conferences, workshops, training programs, research activities, and institutional visits will be entitled to a 35 percent discount on the rental charges for accommodation and conference rooms at authorized hotels, motels, and resorts operated by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.
In addition, a discount of up to 20 percent will be available on training fees. However, the discount will not be applicable to food and beverages. Under the MoU, various services, including accommodation, conference rooms, training rooms, meeting rooms, restaurants, and food services, may be availed as required. The MoU will remain effective for four years, from 13 September 2026 to 12 September 2030, and may be renewed with the mutual consent of both parties.
Following the signing of this MoU with Habiganj Agricultural University, similar MoUs will be signed with other universities across the country in phases. This initiative will make it easier and more cost-effective for university teachers, officers and employees, researchers, and trainees to stay at different locations across the country and participate in training programs in connection with their academic, research, training, and institutional activities. At the same time, it will open up new avenues for mutual cooperation between Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and universities across the country.
