Habiganj Agricultural University Observes ‘July Mass Uprising Day 2026’ with Due Dignity

 

Habiganj Agricultural University observed ‘July Mass Uprising Day 2026’ with due dignity through a series of day-long programs to pay profound tribute to the martyrs of July–August and uphold the historic spirit of the Mass Uprising.

According to the scheduled program, the National Flag was hoisted at sunrise in front of Academic Building-1 on 5 August. At 10:00 a.m., floral wreaths were laid in memory of the martyrs of July–August by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque, and the Honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain.

A tree plantation program was held at 10:30 a.m. Subsequently, at 10:45 a.m., the “July Mass Uprising Rally” commenced from in front of Administrative Building-1 under the auspices of the University’s National Day Celebration Committee. The rally witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the university’s deans, department heads, faculty members, students, officers, and staff.

Following the rally, the Vice-Chancellor’s message was broadcast at 11:00 a.m. under the supervision of the Office of Public Relations and Publications. At 11:15 a.m., a special discussion session and a prayer (Munajat) seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs were held at Administrative Building-2 (TR Palace).

The discussion session was attended by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque, as the Chief Guest, while the Honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain, presided over the program. Among the distinguished guests was Sampa Rani Shil, the elder sister of Ripon Shil, the first martyr from Habiganj during the July Movement. Teachers, students, officers, and staff of the university were also present.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that all members of the university community should uphold the spirit of the July Mass Uprising by carrying out their respective responsibilities with integrity, sincerity, accountability, and a strong commitment to justice, equality, and human values. He further stated that the collective efforts and cooperation of teachers, students, officers, and staff are essential to developing this young university into one of the country's leading institutions of higher education through excellence in education, research, innovation, and the development of skilled human resources. He also called upon everyone to work together for the university’s continued progress and overall development.

In his presidential remarks, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor stated that the July Mass Uprising represents a landmark chapter in Bangladesh’s history, symbolizing the struggle for democracy, justice, and the rights of the people. He further emphasized that the younger generation must embrace patriotism, human values, modern education, and democratic ideals to play a leading role in building a prosperous, equitable, and developed Bangladesh. The university observed ‘July Mass Uprising Day 2026’ with due solemnity and respect through the successful implementation of its day-long commemorative programs.
