With a commitment to transforming Habiganj Agricultural University into a modern, merit-based, and internationally recognized institution of higher education through excellence in education, research, and administration, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor have officially assumed their responsibilities. They joined the university on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque of the Department of Food Engineering and Tea Technology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has assumed office as the new Vice-Chancellor. Meanwhile, for the first time in the university's history, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain of the Department of Agribusiness and Marketing at Bangladesh Agricultural University has taken office as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.

Their appointments were made on 27 July 2026 through separate government notifications signed by Md. Sultan Ahmed, Assistant Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, with the approval of the Honorable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university.

Following the assumption of office, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor were warmly welcomed with flowers by the university's students, faculty members, officers, and staff. Later, a meeting was held with faculty members and administrative officials to discuss the overall development of the university's education, research, and administrative activities, as well as future plans.

After assuming office, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque said, "Our primary goal is to establish Habiganj Agricultural University as a merit-based, modern, and internationally recognized research-oriented university. Alongside ensuring the quality of education and research, I look forward to working collectively with the cooperation and active participation of all stakeholders to build an efficient, transparent, and accountable administration and take the university to new heights."

He further stated that the university's overall development, improvement in the quality of education, expansion of research, and the creation of a student-friendly academic environment would depend on the collective efforts and collaboration of all stakeholders.
