Bengali New Year 1433 was Celebrated in a Festive Atmosphere at Habiganj Agricultural University
Bengali New Year 1433 was celebrated with due dignity and a festive atmosphere at Habiganj Agricultural University. On Tuesday (April 14), the Bengali New Year was observed through day-long programs. From early morning, the university campus became vibrant with a festive mood to welcome the New Year.
At 10:00 AM, a Boishakhi procession was held in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed. The procession started from the administrative building and paraded around the entire campus. Students, teachers, officers, and staff of the university participated in it. The procession prominently featured traditional elements of Bengali culture such as puppets, masks, alpana (traditional art), and indigenous musical instruments.
This year, the theme of Bengali New Year 1433 was set as ‘Harmony of the New Year, Restoration of Democracy.’ The theme was chosen to spread messages of secularism, social harmony, and democratic values in society.
Later, at 10:30 AM, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated a discussion session and cultural program. In his opening speech, he said that Pahela Baishakh is a symbol of national unity and cultural identity. One of the main goals of the university is to instill patriotism, cultural awareness, and social responsibility among students.
Afterward, he visited various Boishakhi stalls organized by the students. The cultural program included music, dance, recitation, and drama performances. Students enlivened the event through their creative performances.
At the end of the program, traditional Bengali foods were arranged for the guests. On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the entire campus was decorated in a colorful manner, and the festival venue was kept open for all by the university.
The university administration stated that they remain committed to organizing such events in the future to promote awareness of Bengali culture and heritage among students.
