International Mother Language Day Observed at HAU

Habiganj Agricultural University commemorated Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day 2025 with due reverence and solemnity. In memory of the language martyrs, the university authorities organized a Probhat Feri and a discussion session.

On Friday (February 21) at 8:00 AM, the program began with the wearing of black badges in front of Academic Building-1. Following this, faculty members, students, officers, and staff participated in a morning procession that paraded through the campus.

After the Probhat Feri, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed, laid a floral wreath at the university’s Shaheed Minar. Department chairs, faculty members, students, and other officials were present during the wreath-laying ceremony.

At 9:30 AM, a discussion session titled "The Dignity of the Bengali Language and the Importance of International Mother Language Day" was held. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed, attended as the chief guest. In his speech, he remarked, "February 21 is not just for Bengalis; it has become a global symbol of linguistic rights. We must show proper respect to our mother tongue and emphasize conducting higher education and research in the Bengali language."

Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of International Mother Language Day, the history of the language movement, and the richness of the Bengali language.
