Tree Plantation Program 2026 Held at Habiganj Agricultural University
As part of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s initiative “25 Crore Tree
Plantation in 5 Years,” and in continuation of nationwide large-scale tree plantation and sapling
distribution activities, Habiganj Agricultural University organized the Tree Plantation Program
2026 on Thursday (April 24).
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Syed Sayem Uddin Ahmed, attended the
event as the chief guest and inaugurated the program at 3:00 PM by planting a tree. In his speech,
he said, “Planting trees is not only for environmental protection; it is an investment for our future
generations. Everyone should come forward to plant at least one tree.”
The main objective of the program, held on the university campus, is to maintain ecological
balance, combat the adverse effects of climate change, and ensure a sustainable future through
greening.
Under the Tree Plantation Program 2026, a total of 25 saplings of 17 different
species—including Krishnachura, Mahogany, Jackfruit, Amra, Black Plum, Mango, Olive,
Lotkon, Guava, Arjun, Tropical Almond, and Wax Apple-were planted.
Students, teachers, and officers of the university actively participated in the program. The
university authorities expressed hope that such initiatives would make the campus greener, more
aesthetic, and more livable, and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such environmentally
friendly activities in the future.
