Alaka Shah Roy was born in 1998 in Gaibandha, Bangladesh. She completed her Master of Science (M.S.) in Fish Biology and Genetics with a CGPA of 3.98 in 2023 and her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Fisheries (Hons.) with a CGPA of 3.88 in 2020, both from Sylhet Agricultural University, securing the top position in her class. Currently she is a faculty member and acting head of the department of Fisheries Genetics and Breeding at Habiganj Agricultural University, Habiganj, Bangladesh. Her research interests include aquatic biodiversity, conservation genetics, fish breeding, and fish biology, reflecting a focus on understanding and preserving aquatic ecosystems while advancing sustainable fishery practices. She served as an NST Fellow under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) from 2022 to 2023.
