Dr. Jakaria Chowdhury Onik is a distinguished agricultural scientist and lecturer in the Department of Horticulture at Habiganj Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Dr. Onik holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing, where his research focused on the effects of melatonin treatments on the ripening and storage of apples. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.S. Agriculture) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh, where he developed a strong foundation in agricultural sciences. His research interests lie in postharvest molecular biology, emphasizing the genetic and biochemical mechanisms influencing the quality, hormonal regulation, shelf life, and stress responses of fruits and vegetables. Dr. Onik has published ten articles in esteemed scientific journals and has led significant projects, such as developing climate-resilient agriculture and promoting floating agriculture in Bangladeshi wetlands. Recipient of prestigious honors, including the Chinese Government Scholarship and the Young Scientist's Fund, Dr. Onik is well-versed in advanced genomic analysis, molecular cloning, and hydroponics. Beyond research, he is passionate about teaching and mentoring, aiming to inspire and equip future agricultural scientists. His work is a testament to his commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the practical application of agricultural research.
