Biography
Md. Abubakar Siddik (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor and Chairman (Acting) in the Department of Crop Botany at Habiganj Agricultural University, Habiganj, Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Hons.) from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. He also completed a Master of Science in Agricultural Botany from the same university. He received his Ph.D. with a dissertation on “Responses of Crop Yield and Quality during Pre- and Post-heading to Extreme Temperature” in the Institute of Crop Science from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS), Beijing, China with a GSCAAS Scholarship 2016 and Beijing Government Scholarship 2018. Later, he got a postdoctoral research fellowship “National Expo Management Committee No.: ID 251149 in 2020 on Ecology at GSCAAS, while due to the pandemic, it was not possible to join physically in the institute. Dr. Siddik has fifteen scientific journal publications among those two in Q1 journal (First Author- European Journal of Agronomy, Co-author- Geoderma). His publications are cited over 219 times as per Google Scholar with an h-index: 8 and i10-index: 8. He is an active member of several professional societies including the member of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh, Alumni Association of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and GSCAAS etc. He also received a research fellowship from the Bangladesh Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) in 2013/2014, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Siddik has more than six years of research experience in Bangladesh and China. He was the Project Investigator (PI) for the projects from R&D 2023-24 funded by MoST and HAURES 2023-24 funded by UGC. His other completed projects: one (1) project (Ministry of Science and Technology, Beijing, China), two (2) internationally funded projects (Islamic Relief, Bangladesh) and two (2) national projects (MoST and UGC) as an Assistant Researcher. Dr. Siddik has focused on Computational biology, Climate Smart Agriculture, Precision Agriculture, GAP, IoT, Plant Stress Physiology, Climate Change Effects on Crops, Crop Yield and Quality, Crop Adaptation and Food Safety & Security etc.
